Have you ever heard that children are safe from cavities until they’re a little older? Unfortunately, this isn’t the case. In fact, even your youngest children are vulnerable to tooth decay. It is very important for you to help your children care for their teeth from an early age. Fortunately, there are several things you can do to help your little one’s teeth stay strong.

Sadly, infants are actually very susceptible to tooth decay, especially if you give them bottles full of sugary drinks when they go to sleep. You see, if your children’s teeth are exposed to sugary drinks, they’ll be more vulnerable to tooth decay. If your child needs a bottle to sleep, you could give them a bottle full of water.

There are other things you could consider doing to protect your child’s teeth. For instance, you should avoid sharing utensils. This is because bacteria can be transferred from parent to child and accelerate decay. And please remember to brush your child’s teeth, or wipe their gums if their teeth haven’t come in.

Finally, please remember to visit our team once every six months after your child’s first tooth erupts. Our dentist, Dr. Nieku Manshadi, is trained to recognize the signs of tooth decay and other issues, and can help you address potential issues before they become serious.
